It should work, but no guarantees. SMP support is always enabled, even
if workers are not used.
You may need the 3.5 (beta) series with service name (-n) command line
switch for multiple instances of Squid-3.
NP: if you are doing the peering just to avoid duplicating objects
look at using the rock cache type with workers instead. Also, with the
3.5 series there is no object size limitation on rock storage, like
with current stable series.
