FWIW, The backport of OpenSSL 3.0 support to v5 did not apply completely 
clean. So it did not make v5 yet. I hope to have some time to work on it 
later this week, if not it might miss this point release.

The patch in Debian is an earlier version of what eventually merged. 
Functionally identical - just lacking the style polish. It can be used 
if you need for v5 before the backport completes.
