but we gladly consider fixes that require some polishing
(they may just take more time to audit and commit).

You may post here or to bugzilla. Patches posted here may receive
slightly more attention from developers, but patches posted to bugzilla
may receive more attention from users (which may help with testing). If
you are not sure about your fix, I recommend trying to get it tested by
others on bugzilla.

Sounds good! The Squid wiki has a few resources for Squid developers,
but many of them are outdated and incomplete, so the new folks mostly
have to study the source code and follow squid-dev discussions to get up
to speed. Squid is pretty big so having a specific itch or feature in
mind often helps with getting started.
