Hi David,
  PR 1481 <https://github.com/squid-cache/squid/pull/1481> should address
your problem, it needs to be reviewed,
merged to trunk, and backported to v6 so don't hold your breath,
but it should be just a matter of time.
Once done, you will also have to add a configuration line to your
squid.conf (manual
<http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/config/cache_log_message/>)
