FTP gateway has been supported since Squid-2.4 or something.

FTP relay/proxying is what what added in Squid-3.5.


NOTE:
"Transparency" is a protocol defined set of requirements in HTTP. It
does not mean anything like what most people use the word to mean.

FTP does not even define a role for proxying, so does not define what
would be necessary for proxy to act transparently. We made an educated
guess and implemented that. It seems to work.
